This is caused by excess sebum; heat and perspiration exacerbate this issue. What can you do to tackle it? The team at Christian Breton has plenty of tips:
Every evening, it’s a good idea to remove your make-up; every morning and evening, enjoy a gentle but thorough cleanse to unclog your pores.
Don’t forget about purifying masks! They help regulate the production of sebum without drying out your skin. Our current favorites: the Purifying Pore Minimizer Fabric Mask with charcoal and the Black Earth Mask with clay. Charcoal and clay each react to sebum in a different way. Once it’s “activated”, charcoal acts as a magnet for impurities to cleanse the skin. Clay, which is packed with minerals and trace elements and helps soften the skin, absorbs excess sebum.
Make sure that you use non-greasy and non-comedogenic products to let your skin breathe: by not clogging your skin’s pores, you’ll prevent blackheads. Apply a mattifying foundation for a perfect look that lasts all day, then use a BB cream to hydrate and even out your skin for a flawless complexion.
There’s a common misconception that oily skin needs less moisture. False! In fact, dehydrated skin produces even more sebum; this, in turn, will lead to imperfections, shine and a dull complexion. Use a skincare product for oily skin that will nourish your skin without being too heavy.
One last tip: you are what you eat and your skin is the proof! That’s right: eating an unbalanced diet or too much rich or fatty food will simply encourage your skin to produce more sebum and more shine.
Over to you! Have a great summer.
